What is a Registered Nurse?

Registered Nurses (RN) are a central role in the healthcare through assessments, planning, providing and evaluating people with acute (short-term) and chronic (life-long) health conditions. Each RN has to complete a Bachelor of Nursing degree (3 years) and complete yearly renewal for ongoing practice through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). RNs are regulated by the national Nursing and Midwifery Board that set the standards of practices and policies.
